Esther is a journalist and translator based in Brooklyn, NY. She’s inspired by the stories that reside within every person she meets. She often misses Sweden, but she loves her life in NY, where she lives on the top floor of a Brooklyn brownstone with her husband and three children.
Donivan Berube

DONIVAN BERUBE, FLAGGSTAFF, ARIZONA

Donivan Berube has been releasing records and touring internationally for several years, and has been featured on NPR, the A.V. Club, and Vinyl Me, Please. He's worked as an English Teacher in Huaycán, Peru, a Librarian in Big Sur, California, and has ridden his single-speed bicycle across America. He currently lives in Flaggstaff, Arizona. Donivan is also our music editor, selecting the soundtrack for our destinations.
Annar Bjørgli

ANNAR BJØRGLI, OSLO, NORWAY

Annar Bjørgli is a photographer and visual artist who lives in Oslo. He works as a photographer at the Nasjonalmuseet Museum in Norway. He has had several exhibitions and done a number of commissioned decoration projects. At the moment, he is working on a large decoration for a new care home in Oslo. Annar supports the idea of a four-day work week, and thinks that Francis Bacon is a greater artist than Picasso.
Engrid Barnett

ENGRID BARNETT, NEVADA, USA

Engrid Barnett is an award-winning cultural geographer, travel writer, and musician who explores America one ghost town, hiking trail, and eclectic bar at a time. In this issue of American Trails she writes about the Psychedelic rock scene at Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City, Nevada. See page 128. Her work appears regularly in Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and Nevada Magazine.

MARTIN BRUSEWITZ, NEW YORK CITY, USA

Martin Brusewitz is a Swedish freelance journalist and (mostly analog) photographer based in uptown New York City (because of a mysterious textile designer he met at the MOMA five years ago) (he is now her husband and baby papa). Martin – who also has a degree in islamology and is an outstanding basketball player – writes mainly for Swedish newspapers and magazines on a wide array of topics. Cecilia Carlstedt

CECILIA CARLSTEDT, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

Cecilia has been working as a full time illustrator ever since she graduated fromLondon Collage of Communication in 2003. She spent several years in London and New York but is now back in her home town of Stockholm. She has worked with a wide range of clients but is essentially linked to the world of fashion. Jonas Cullberg

JONAS CULLBERG, NEW YORK CITY, USA

Jonas Cullberg is a freelance journalist, based in Queens, New York. Last year his book En Amerikansk epidemi (An American epidemic) about the opioid crisis was released. In this issue you'll find Cullberg's article about two farmers at Coyote Run Farm in Iowa who have their own ideas on how agriculture can benefit the environment.

LINDSEY DANIS, HUDSON VALLEY, NY, USA

Lindsey Danis is a travel writer based in the Hudson Valley. She’s visited 42 states to date, and when she’s not on the road, she’s working on a novel. In this issue you can read Lindsey's story about the ghost town Centralia in Pennsylvania, where an underground coal mine fire has burned since 1962.
John Deleva

JOHN DELEVA, HAWAII, USA

John DeLeva: John won a college bet in 1995 and became the youngest person to visit every county, borough and parish in America - all 3,086. He hates to see a train leave the station or a plane leave the gate when he’s not on it!
Peder Edvinsson

PEDER EDVINSSON, VÄSTERNÄS, SWEDEN

Peder works as an editor, journalist and is the author of two books, the first from 2015 about a butterfly collector Fjärilsmannen and in 2018 a handbook on how to use a wood stove, Elda i vedspis. He used to travel more as an editor for the SAS Eurobonus magazine, but is now content with the weekly trip to his cottage on the coast north of Stockholm.
Bruno Ehrs

BRUNO EHRS, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

The photographer Bruno Ehrs has traveled around and across the United States since the late 1970s. Lived next to Nathan's Hot Dogs on Coney Island. Almost seen Woody Allen at Broome Street Bar. Peter Eriksson

PETER ERIKSSON, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

Peter has worked with photography in some form or another for the last 25 years, splitting it up between his own projects, freelance work, and teaching. Besides great photography, music is a massive source of inspiration, and especially the introverted Americana in minor, the melancholic guys in flannel shirts. In this issue you get a look at his portraits of musicians. Glitter and Doom in front of the camera, Tom Waits!

April Frame is a cinematographer based in Anchorage, Alaska. For this issue she went oyster hunting in her favorite bar. April also did the fab video This is American Trails, check it out on our site.

OLIVIA HALL, SEATTLE, USA

Olivia Hall is a writer whose work has appeared in Seattle Times, Elle.com, Racked, Refinery 29 and Donimo. She has lived throughout the United States but has laid down her roots on Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from downtown Seattle. She livesin a small double-wide traile with her fiancé and a chihuahua. She also happens to be extremely good at macaramé.

PIETER TEN HOOPEN, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

Pieter is an international acclaimed photographer and filmmaker based in Stockholm. Transitioning between editorial work, personal projects and commercial assignments, he has a wide range of returning clients such as The New Yorker The New York Times Magazine, Le Monde, and Plan International. JOHANNES HUWE, WUNSTORF, GERMANY

Johannes is a German photographer who is passionate about two things: analog photography and desert landscapes along the west coast of America. Chris Hytha

CHRIS HYTHA, PHILADELPHIA, USA

Chris Hytha is a 22-year-old student, professional, and freelancer based in Philadelphia. While finishing his final years at Drexel university, and working at an architecture firm in Philadelphia, Chris finds time to pursue his passion of visual arts and photography. This freelance travel and food writer have called San Francisco her home for 22 years.The New Jersey native has traveled thoroughly thoughout the USA. Dean Klinkenberg, the Mississippi Valley Traveler, writes about the history and culture of places along the Mississippi River. He has published six travel guides for different parts of the Mississippi Valley, as well as three Frank Dodge mysteries set in places along the river. Robert is a Swedish photographer who usually works as a fashion photographer in New York. MATTIAS LUNDBLAD, NEW LONDON, USA

Mattias Lundblad bought a Pentax in the city of Linköping as a fifteen-year-old and began to take pictures of musicians, people and nature. Later in life at a photo shoot in the US he met his American love. Now he calls New London, in between New York and Boston, his home. ANDREW MUNZ, JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING, USA

Andrew is a writer, director and actor from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. As a novelist he is represented by Bradford Literary Agency. His first book, "I Can Ski Forever" will be released in Winter 2018/2019, and is currently at work on his first young adult novel. Lena Mäcs is a designer and has worked as a freelance designer to a majority of well-known companies within fashion, textile and the jewelry industry. Emil Nordin has been working as a freelance photographer for ten years, producing documentary stories and portraits for some of Sweden’s leading magazines and newspapers. Miriam Parkman may live in a small apartment outside Stockholm, but in her dreams she is on the open plains in the US or where she grew up along the northern shores of Sweden. Jan Salomonsson is a translator, editor, and writer working out of Stockholm. He counts a variety of government agencies, art galleries, museums, and authors among his clients. Calle lives in Stockholm with wife and two children. He started his career as an assistant at the age of 18. After three years, Calle began to work as his own and at the age of 23 he joined the photography agency Lund Lund. Now at 45 he is represented by Mink MGMT. As a freelance photographer Matt spend a lot of time on the road. He is very fortunate to get to travel and see some incredible places for his work.
