Utah Rim Rock Motel

UTAH RIM ROCK

I’d driven over 130 miles (210 km) from Moab, stopped a couple hours at Bryce National Park, and was now heading to Zion. But it was getting late and I was beat. Near Capitol Reef National Park by Torrey, a nice motel appeared out of nowhere. Rim Rock Inn—I decided when I saw the sign. So perfect in that road trip way. Checked in, tossed my gear inside, cracked open the whiskey. On a chair I dragged out from the room, I sat watching the sun set over the desert landscape. The night sky was enormous. Became a stronger memory than I expected. The unexpected is often the best.
